Amy Courter has a very rich and diverse background that includes 20 years of leadership at Valassis, a billion-dollar public marketing service corporation. She served as vice president of Information Technology and Telecom globally. She developed company- wide programs to enhance the corporate working environment and employee retention, assisting Valassis to be recognized year upon year in Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For”. Courter was also named “Top 100 Premier IT Leader” by ComputerWorld Magazine in 2001, and a “Notable Woman in Technology” in Crain’s Detroit Business in 2018.

MAJOR GENERAL AMY S. COURTER has experience in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare and nonprofit organizations. Courter has been selected to positions on numerous boards, serving both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, including the Kalamazoo College Board of Trustees, and Dell Technologies Federal Board.

Major General Courter served as the National Commander and CEO of the Civil Air Patrol, a federally chartered nonprofit corporation and the official civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force headquartered at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, from 2007-2011. She led CAP’s 61,000-plus volunteers in fulfillment of the organization’s three congressionally chartered missions: Emergency Services, Cadet Programs, and Aerospace Education, as well as CAP’s increasing role in America’s homeland security. As CAP’s commander, Courter served as a Major General, the highest ranking CAP Officer, and was the first and only female to have attained that distinction in the 80 years of CAP’s history.

Courter graduated from Kalamazoo College, studying abroad in Strasbourg, France. She completed her MBA from Western Governor’s University and earned Executive Certificates from both Villanova University and Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.

Besides these remarkable accomplishments, Amy Courter is best known for her humility, kindness, compassion, and willingness to help those who are in need. It is with great pleasure that we have Amy as our speaker.
